The proposed RIS3 A27 scheme for a new off-line route between Lewes & Polegate has been added to the pipeline webpage.
In addition to this, National Highways have been contacting land owners along the proposed route for access to their land to carry out surveys such as ecological & soil. Schemes within RIS3 will not start construction before 2025, however preparatory surveys can be carried out at anytime.
It is unclear at this time of what the new off-line route would be designed to. Proposals in the past have varied from Single Carriageway Routes, to Dual Carriageway routes, some with Grade Separated Junctions and some Without. Either way all historic proposals have included limited access points at just Beddingham & Cophall with no intermediate junctions, instead passing over existing roads and providing underpasses for farmers & PRoWs
