Within the Transport for the South East’s Strategic Investment Plan there are many proposed improvements to the mass transit network within Sussex. These improvements are:
Mass Rapid Transit Systems & Fastway
Mass Rapid Transit Systems are usually either a dedicated bus system or a dedicated light rail/tram system which runs on its own infrastructure, but is still able to use roads where space is restricted. Aims to provide a faster system them regular busses by bypassing traffic and taking more direct routes. Fastway is an existing MRT system which exists in Crawley, it is proposed to roll Fastway to more areas around Crawley

- Eastbounre/Wealden Mass Rapid Transit
- Hastings/Bexhill Mass Rapid Transit
- Fastway Extension – Crawley to Horsham
- Fastway Extension – Crawley to East Grinstead
- Fastway Extension – Haywards Heath to Burgess Hill
- Fastway Extension – Crawley to Redhill
Mobility Hubs
Mobility Hubs are interchange areas where people are able to change mode of transport such as switching between rail, bus, bike, taxi & private motor vehicles if there is a park & ride. Mobility Hubs are suggested at the following locations:
- Shoreham Strategic Mobility Hub
- A27/A23 Patcham Interchange Strategic Mobility Hub
- Eastbourne/Polegate Strategic Mobility Hub
- Three Bridges Strategic Mobility Hub
